From small boards to huge blocks, these bench holdfasts make frequent clamping a snap. Simply drill a 3/4-Inch hole to accommodate the holdfast and drop it in place. Give the head a firm tap with a mallet and you're ready to go. To disengage the clamp, tap the backside. The 8-Inch clamp has a 4-Inch reach.

Totally listed wrongMuch smaller than 3/4" holes & don't understand all the stars for something that doesn't fit 3/4 holes it states.Sticker made in Taiwan. Listed as USA.I guess I can't fault them for all the stuff shipped in from Mexico & everywhere really & assembled here in the US. Even my GMC was built in Canada (Vin will start with 2)Was shipped fast & recieved immediatelyPicture clearly shows 2 pieces, however I only received one. I contacted the vender and they sent a 2nd piece. I use them on my Dewalt work table. They seem to be very secure and made of pretty good material. I would recommend these.I’m not sure what size hole this works with, but it isn’t 3/4” as promised — this thing is a full 1/16” smaller than the Gramercy holdfasts I ended up buying.I get it: we all want to save some money. But unless you bore smaller holes that won’t fit anything else, every dime you spend on this hunk of metal is 100% wasted.Maybe i can use it as a doorstop? So much better than clamps! My 3-1/2 thick workbench top is probably thicker than these are designed for. One works great; the other not well at all. No measurable physical difference at all. I think if I put a big chamfer on the bottom of the holes in my benchtop it will help. At least that's what I have gathered from my research. There is a learning curve with this holdfast (primarily in the angle at which you hit it to get it in place), but once I figured that out, it worked a treat! I designed and built a workbench with the intention of using holdfasts for woodworking, and this ones fits perfectly. I plan to come back for another soon. I have been using this regularly in the month I've owned it.I went to the big box stores looking for these, nobody in the tool department knew what they were, sadly enough. They have come in handy for my cabinet build and they hold supper tight, right when I need them to.Works for me. I drive it with a plastic mallet, it doesn't need to be pounded ... And it comes out with one tap. Seems like a good buy to me so I wouldn't be afraid to recommend it to another woodworker. These are cast iron, which means in a consistent use environment other than a hobbyist, these will crack in a short time, cast iron sounds really tough, but it's quite brittle when exposed to any kind of shock or shearing or twisting force *the very definition of what a hold fast undergoes*Better to find a steel hold fast which can either have a smooth or knurled handle and you can add to that texture yourself for better gripping.Speaking of gripping, these have a smooth painted coat that prevent them from gripping a dog hole
