Poorly organized - no table of contents or index.Poorly researched - nearly all references are to websites, and far too many of these are to secondary sources such as Wikipedia and other encyclopedias.Huge gaps - the chapter on the 19th century ends with the US Civil War. From 1865 to 1900 there is nothing except a vague "The nineteenth century saw the biggest influx of Germans into America estimated to have been 8 million." This was especially disappointing for me since my great-grandparents immigrated from Germany in the 1870s. I was hoping to get some insight into why they left Germany and their early experiences in the US.
