Description

Forty years ago, most Americans said they didn't know anyone who was homosexual and claimed to know little or nothing about homosexuality. A Queer Thing Happened to America chronicles the amazing transformation of America over the last 40 years, and addresses the question head-on: Is there really a gay agenda, or is it a fiction of the religious right? This could easily be the most controversial book of the decade.

This is a great book if you want to know what gay activists and their supporters have been up to for the past 45 years. Since the book was published the Supreme Court, with the support of President Obama, voted 5 to 4 to redefine marriage on a federal level to include same sex unions; the Pentagon is moving to lift a ban prohibiting transgenders from serving in the military; and former Olympic decathlete Bruce Jenner is being celebrated for “transitioning” into a woman named Caitlyn.I find it intriguing that such a small percentage of the population (around 3% according to the book) has so much power. Dr. Brown gives example after example of how gay reprogramming has become increasingly prevalent now thanks to proactive support from the media, Hollywood, and our government. It has infiltrated our educational system, our businesses and even our churches. I can’t help but wonder if this small LGBT minority is getting supernatural help from a demonic principality. It appears that most of the 97% that are not part of the LGBT community don’t seem interested in trying to stop this systematic offensive against traditional values and biblical morality either because they don’t have a problem with their agenda, they don’t care, or they just want to live their own lives and not get involved. And for those who are unwilling to celebrate LGBT diversity or who dare to speak out against their agenda the retaliation is often vindictive and brutal, sadly.I’ve been a Christian for 30 years now. Before that I was heavily involved in the gay community for 10 years. I have experienced firsthand many of the scenarios Dr. Brown describes in his book. Events like parades, conferences, entertainment programs, sporting events, bowling leagues, and even church in the hands of the LGBT community become venues to worship their diverse sexuality and explore avenues of diverse sexual expression. So I am inclined to disagree with gay activists who want us to believe that members of the LGBT community are just as normal as heterosexuals in every way except for their sexual orientation. From my experience that is simply not true. Obsession with sex and sexual identity reigns supreme in the LGBT community. Of course there are always exceptions to the rule, but there is no denying the rule. This is definitely a book that should be read by as many Christians as possible. The church needs to learn how to respond to this issue with Christ’s love and without compromising God’s truth. Dr. Brown’s book is a wakeup call that needs to be heeded because it effectively exposes this insidious darkness that is spreading not only throughout America but across the globe. Sadly the church may very well be the last bastion to stand against the onslaught of the LGBT agenda so I think it’s crucial that Christians do not bury their heads in the sand. Edmond Burke said “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” So I think it’s important that we not be afraid to share what we believe to be God’s truth regarding homosexual behavior whenever opportunities present themselves. Might there be repercussions? Possibly. But if the church is indeed the last line of defense and we choose to sit back and do nothing out of fear of vilification or worse from the LGBT community, then we are in essence handing them the victory.Paul said in Eph 6:12, “. . . our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” If the LGBT agenda is indeed being empowered by a demonic principality it seems to me that the Body of Christ should be fervently praying and asking God to shine His light into this dark storm so that many LGBT folks might ultimately be able to see God’s truth and yes, even get saved. It’s also important to remember that God doesn’t hate anyone for being homosexual even though he totally put the kibosh on homosex. The church needs to become a safe place for LGBT folks who want to explore options other than acquiescence to their sexual orientation. For LGBT folks who decide to give God a try the Body of Christ needs to welcome them and walk alongside them as they get to know the Lord and work through their emotional and sexual issues. And it will undoubtedly get messy from time to time but we can’t give up on these folks simply because things might get a bit challenging! And whether or not God ultimately changes their (or my) sexual orientation is immaterial. If we choose to serve Jesus rather than ourselves He will not only show us how to live with our homosexuality in a way that glorifies God, but also thrive as valuable members of the Body of Christ. Will it be a difficult journey? Will there be failures? These are, of course, rhetorical questions! But Paul encourages all followers of Christ to keep running the race and trust God no matter how challenging things get. After all, our ultimate reward for staying true to Jesus is in heaven, not here on earth.Thank you, Dr. Brown, for the immense amount of time and energy you put into researching, writing and publishing this valuable book. It truly is a labor of love.
