Description

America is the surprising burial ground for a web of archaeological secrets. Forensic geologist Scott Wolter reveals that the history books may not tell the whole story. Across the country, ancient symbols, religious relics, and unexplained artifacts suggest that civilizations from around the world have left their mark. A real-life Indiana Jones, Wolter not only uncovers compelling evidence that pre-dates the official "discovery" of the New World, he also turns what we think we know about American history on its head. From the Knights Templar to the Vikings, America Unearthed™ proves there is a hidden side to the American map — and there are some things people have gone to great lengths to cover up.

Just don't get to wrapped up in the sensationalism of its presentation. They have to appeal to a much greater audience than those of us interested mostly in the facts and science. If I were to rate the show from a scientific prospective I would not give it 5 stars but put in the context of shows like "Finding Bigfoot" and "Ancient Aliens" (both of which I would give 1 or 2 stars for being absolutely preposterous) its extremely entertaining with enough base in science to keep the reasonable nerds at bay.I am an aspiring Archaeologist I am currently attending University of Hawaii. I have always had a passion for Archaeology and if there is anything I have learned in my short time studying the field is that our knowledge of the past is constantly changing as more evidence pops up. Although the show utilizes CSI-like Bruckheimer effects to spice it up and can be a little over dramatic for the sake of making good TV; anyone with an interest in the kinds of Geology and Archaeology that is out there and not in the main stream will find this show at the very least interesting and entertaining, if not, at times compelling. Now for some personal experience with the shows creators:At the college I attend I have met some prominent Archaeologistsin the state that have ran up against the very kinds of thing Mr Wolter likes to investigate. In my case evidence that early Hawaiian navigators did not just stop at the islands of Hawaii but there is lots of compelling evidence that they did in fact frequent the great island of the Americas. I wrote on behalf of my Archaeologist friends and presented their evidence to the show and only a week later was contacted by them. Since then we have had skype chats, exchanged emails, and long phone conversations. I have to say that they are a great group of people who are very interested in finding the truth and bringing together people across the nation to get it. The show has the resources to make things happen my friends and I have been unable to procure on our own. Great show, great people, fun to watch.
