I'm from the central coast and was so excited to read this book. Unfortunately it's proven difficult to trudge through. The author claims she taught creative writing for 20 years, and I suppose that makes sense as she was very creative in how she put together her stories - factoids that had nothing to do with what the main topic was, random sentences that should have been their own paragraph all together, chapters or sections ending abruptly with no real resolution or closing other than the occasional "x may be haunted." If you are a stickler for good, flowing material, look elsewhere. If you feel you can look past the sometimes jarring writing style of this author for the sake of stories, (try to) enjoy.
