Tom Peters and Robert Waterman got it right. This book is as relevant today as it was 33 years ago. The attributes of excellent companies should have been adopted by all companies, but it appears that the lessons learned have been ignored by many of today's corporations. Quantitative analysis still trumps qualitative at many American companies. This book provides in-depth reviews of excellent companies where both quantitative and qualitative analyses are equal and essential components of their businesses. And where people matter from labor to management. This is an "excellent" book for anyone interested in providing the best possible outcomes for their customers, employees, and shareholders. I read it when it was first published in 1982 and decided to read again. This time around I have a greater understanding and appreciation for this book. If you can find a copy, read it and apply its lessons.
