This large, beautiful book is both an excellent reference for the student of bird identification and a lovely coffee table book. It includes 83 prints of paintings done by John James Audubon himself, illustrating the birds as he saw them in the wild, along with information about them. One of my son's science instructors introduced this book to our family as part of a presentation on song birds in our area (Alabama). I purchased a copy for our personal library, where it stays on display for anyone wishing to browse it.
